Golden World
Elegy for Mother
By Sydney Stevens (October, 2016)
You taught me how to listen to the wind and the rain
Watch each snowflake falling down upon my window pane
Lessons learned in silence, guidance that was true
Many things a part of me, were once a part of you
Walking in the rain tonight, I heard a distant stream
All the years you were here, like a distant dream
Now you're here inside me, living in my heart
I feel you in your Golden World, we're never far apart
Sometimes when the night is still, with all the stars above
Glowing golden warmth within, sure a mother's love
Still small voice inside me, guide me day-to-day
Stepping stones that build a life and I'm well on my way
I heard you in the wind tonight out walking in the wild
A song, a distant lullaby comforting a child
I'll meet you on the other side, when my time has come
Golden World of love and light
And rainbows in the sun!
Thank you for the many ways you taught me how to live
Fertile ground to grow a dream, always there to give
I'll be with you one day, underneath the sun
Embrace with tears of love and joy
A Golden World as one!
